Government and Policy Engagement
Advisory Committees are a key component of QVET Australia’s advocacy efforts, designed to represent the interests of vocational education and training (VET) providers. These committees consist of industry experts, educators, and stakeholders who collaborate to address pressing issues and influence policy decisions. Their primary objective is to ensure that the voices of VET providers are heard in regulatory and legislative discussions.
The purpose of these advisory committees is to provide strategic guidance on policy development, regulatory changes, and industry trends. They analyse emerging challenges, propose solutions, and advocate for policies that promote the growth and sustainability of the VET sector. By engaging with government bodies, industry partners, and educational institutions, the committees work to shape a favourable environment for VET providers.
Through these efforts, QVET Australia aims to enhance the quality and accessibility of vocational education, ensuring that the sector meets the evolving needs of students, employers, and the broader community.
Changes to IRCs and SSOs – Training Package Development
The Australian Government has announced (2023) the establishment of Jobs and Skills Councils (JSCs), and is committed to delivering a collaborative, three-fold VET sector that brings employers, unions and governments together to find solutions to skills and workforce challenges.
JSCs are being established to provide industry with a stronger, more strategic voice and greater participation in the skills and training sector. The new JSCs will replace the current industry engagement arrangements which includes 67 Industry Reference Committees (IRCs), six Skills Service Organisations (SSOs) and three Skills Organisations Pilots.
JSCs are responsible for the following industry sectors and training packages. For more information visit: JSCs
